What Is SFC in Georgia?

SFC is a Georgia Medicaid benefit that pays family caregivers to provide daily care at home, helping individuals avoid institutional care. Along with a stipend, SFC includes training, case-management, and nurse oversight.

Who Can Be a Paid Caregiver?

  • 18+ and lives with the participant
  • Provides full-time care (no outside job)
  • Not the participant’s legal guardian
  • Must be a family member (excluding spouses) or trusted individual
  • Complete required state training
  • Reside in the same household as the care recipient

Who Can Receive Care?

  • Georgia Medicaid enrolled (or eligible)
  • Require assistance with at least two ADLs (e.g., bathing, dressing, mobility)
  • Lives with the caregiver
  • Completes a professional care assessmen
